Hello, and welcome! I am Alex Grasdalen, the COO of Bemidji Steel Company. I am excited to share our insights, expertise, and industry knowledge with you, our customers, and partners.

I was inspired to write this blog from numerous discussions with many people over the years, Bemidji Steel Company, or BSC for short as I will call it here, has had a profound impact on the market in recent years. The company touches hundreds of businesses and thousands of products that make up the world we live in. I am a very lucky person to lead the company and the team behind it. We would not be here if it were not for our world-class customers, vendors, and most importantly, team!

BSC is not for the enrichment of its owners and management, we want to share ideas, grow as a company and all climb together, it is what makes us so different. We believe in spreading innovation and ways of doing business that make our partners and us more competitive in the global market, as well as rewarding our staff who are the world to us. (Note, our legal team requires me to state that we are not sharing confidential information, or other nonpublic, customer, financial, internal, protected, or related information in this blog. So, if you are featured here, please ensure that you do the same with your legal team.)

My goal is to create this blog collaboratively with our partners, if you are interested in being featured, please message me on LinkedIn, if you already have my email, please feel free to reach out that way too. If you are a customer partner or vendor partner or related in some way to the industry let me know. In the coming weeks, IT will give me keys to an inbox that you can directly message, it will of course have the proper security measures to ensure everyone is safe and works properly. I don’t have that now. :-)

In this blog, we will discuss and focus on the following.

Markets: We will explore the latest trends, developments, and opportunities in the metal industry and how they affect the industry. In addition to a broader macroeconomic approach to the economy. We will include industry experts in finance, and economics, as well as company leadership from within our industry.
Operations: Next, we will look at operations, for all of us it is safe to assume that this is the most challenging part of our days. We will explore innovative HR practices, to training, and quality operations from leading companies. We will discuss what works and what has been epic failures, to everything in between.
Resources: Third, what are the resources that we take for granted that we shouldn’t? Such as an awesome relationship with a training provider, a bank, or other community steward that enables us to do what we do and do it better as a result.
Equipment: Lastly, equipment, is my favorite part! I love new technology and equipment, the future of what is possible is always fascinating! I look forward to sharing with you what the brightest minds have come up with at the world’s leading companies. From lasers all the way to artificial intelligence, (who helped proofread this BTW.) I look forward to sharing the future with you.

What is the format going to be? Well, at this time, it is going to be a written blog with a complementary VLOG portion to follow, there will be a variety of content that is shared from our website to all the social media platforms. You can also subscribe to our emails to be notified when I post the latest update. We have an exciting new platform that is launching in 2024, more on that later.
